L’aire de production des appellations communales est divisée en de nombreuses parcelles appelées " lieux-dits "
ou " climats ". Certains climats se distinguent par la typicité et le niveau de qualité des vins qu’ils produisent et
accèdent au rang de " premier cru ". Sur l’étiquette la mention " premier cru " suivie du nom du climat est indiquée
à la suite du nom du village. Ex : Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Clos Saint-Jacques.
